Amaravati, August 13: The Union Government has provided a generalized response to specific queries regarding the operationalization and notification of the dedicated Rare Earth Corridor promised to Andhra Pradesh.
In a Rajya Sabha unstarred question, Vijay Chintakayala sought precise details on whether the Andhra Pradesh Rare Earth Corridor announced in the 2026–27 Union Budget had been formally notified, asking for concrete timelines and steps taken to support the State’s monazite-based processing ecosystem.
Replying on behalf of the Prime Minister’s Office, Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh grouped Andhra Pradesh with three other mineral-rich states — Odisha, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. The Minister stated that a Joint Working Group (JWG) comprising stakeholder central ministries and representatives from all four state governments has been constituted to formulate guidelines for mining, processing, research, and manufacturing.
However, the Ministry omitted any Andhra-specific timelines, formal notification dates, or localized action plans for its monazite ecosystem. The reply also highlighted the broader Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Sintered Rare Earth Permanent Magnet (REPM) — a ₹7,280 crore national initiative notified in December 2025 to create a 6,000 MTPA manufacturing capacity — without specifying Andhra Pradesh’s targeted share or outlay.
