On Wednesday (October 8, 2025), during the 11th meeting of the Andhra Pradesh State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, a major highlight was the approval of an ₹87,520 crore (Around $10 billion) foreign direct investment (FDI) proposal from Raiden Infotech India Private Limited.
This initiative has been described by state officials and media reports as the “highest-ever single FDI in India’s history”, surpassing previous large-scale inflows in sectors like manufacturing and technology. The project positions Andhra Pradesh as a key player in global digital infrastructure, with officials noting it as a “game-changer” for the state’s technology ecosystem, akin to a “Quantum Valley.”
Following the collapse of Gujarat’s Vedanta-Foxconn semiconductor plant worth ₹1.54 lakh crore in 2023, no single FDI project in active implementation approached US$10 billion until the approval of Raiden Infotech’s ₹87,520 crore data center project in Andhra Pradesh, now claimed as India’s largest single foreign investment.
As of June 2025, Andhra Pradesh’s cumulative FDI since 2019 October stands at around US $1.27 Billion (pre-this approval). This project alone, if realised, multiply that several-fold. The announcement has generated buzz on social media, with users highlighting it as a milestone for Andhra Pradesh’s post-bifurcation recovery.
Key Details of the Proposal
Company Background: Raiden Infotech India Private Limited is a subsidiary of Google LLC (U.S.), with primary funding from Raiden APAC Investment Holding Company, a Singapore-based entity that holds the majority stake. The firm specializes in cloud computing, cyber-security, and AI-driven data solutions, leveraging Google’s expertise to develop hyper-scale data centers.
Project Scope: The investment will establish India’s (and reportedly Asia’s) largest AI-powered data center complex, with a total capacity of 1,000 MW. This includes multiple interconnected campuses designed for high-performance computing, data storage, and AI processing. The facilities will support cloud services, edge computing, and advanced analytics, catering to global tech demands.
Location and Infrastructure: The data centers will be developed across three sites in the Visakhapatnam district:
Rambilli (near Tarluvada): 697 MW capacity.
Adivivaram: 465 MW capacity.
Achyutapuram: 929 MW capacity.
These locations were selected for their proximity to power grids, fiber-optic networks, and coastal logistics advantages. The project requires approximately 2,100 MW of electricity in total, to be sourced from local distribution companies.
Economic Impact
Job Creation: Expected to generate thousands of high-skill jobs in areas like software engineering, data management, cybersecurity, and operations, contributing to the broader 67,000 jobs projected from the SIPB meeting’s approvals.
Broader Benefits: The initiative is anticipated to attract ancillary industries, boost local IT exports, and enhance Andhra Pradesh’s appeal as a tech hub. State IT Minister Nara Lokesh was congratulated by Naidu and other ministers for facilitating the deal, emphasizing its role in skill development and economic diversification.
Timeline and Implementation
Construction is slated to begin within six months of approval, with phased rollout over 3-5 years. The state government has committed to streamlined clearances, land allocation from industrial parks, and incentives under its IT policy, including power subsidies and tax rebates tied to job creation. Real-time monitoring via a dedicated portal will ensure progress.
