Meerkhanpet, Telangana: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Monday laid the foundation stone for the Future City Development Authority (FCDA) office building at Meerkhanpet in Rangareddy district, marking the administrative kickoff for the Bharat Future City project.
Speaking at a public meeting following the ceremony, Reddy emphasized that the city is being built not for personal gain but for the prosperity of future generations. “Give me 10 years, and I will build a city that the world talks about,” he said, dismissing opposition allegations of land-related self-interest.
The Chief Minister outlined his long-term vision for Bharat Future City — a Net-Zero, innovation-driven urban hub that he claims will rival global cities like New York and Tokyo within a decade.
Historical Continuity and Future Ambitions
Reddy positioned the project as the fourth major urban expansion in Telangana’s history, following Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Cyberabad. “This city will be a destination for investments and a hub for Fortune 500 companies,” he asserted.
Vision and Connectivity
Revanth Reddy reiterated that the city will feature underground power lines, smart infrastructure, and dedicated zones for emerging industries such as AI, FinTech, and Life Sciences. He confirmed that the Central Government has approved a bullet train corridor connecting the proposed city to Amaravati, and a 12-lane highway to Machilipatnam Port is in progress.
Administrative Infrastructure First
The FCDA office will serve as the nerve center for planning and execution of the Bharat Future City. The authority will begin functioning three times a month, hosting regular investor meetings and strategic reviews. The construction of the Future City Development Authority building and the Skill University is scheduled for completion by December 2026.
Also launched were the Skill University and Radial Road-1 (Phase I & II), which are expected to support the city’s future workforce and connectivity. The first industrial land allocation — 10 acres — has been granted to Singareni Collieries for its new corporate office.
