AP Extends Dussehra Holidays for Schools to Sept 22–Oct 2

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government has revised the Dussehra holiday schedule for schools, extending the festive break to 11 days. As per the revised schedule, schools across the state will remain closed from September 22 to October 2, 2025.

Originally, the holidays had been scheduled from September 24 to October 2. The change was made after requests from teachers, which were brought to the notice of Education Minister Nara Lokesh by TDP Graduate MLCs.

Announcing the decision on social media, Nara Lokesh said:

“Teachers are requesting that Dussehra holidays for schools begin on the 22nd of this month, and this was brought to my attention by TDP Graduate MLCs. Taking their request into account, after discussions with education department officials, we have decided to grant Dussehra festival holidays from September 22 to October 2.”

Schools will reopen on October 3, 2025, following the conclusion of the festival. The School Education Department has stated that adjustments will be made in the academic calendar to accommodate the extended break.
