Vijayawada, Sept. 19: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, on Friday cleared a series of key proposals aimed at easing civic burdens, streamlining urban governance, and reviving stalled development in the Amaravati capital region.
In a major relief to property owners, the Cabinet approved the scrapping of the NALA fee by amending municipal laws. The government said this move will simplify building approvals and reduce costs for citizens.
The Cabinet also gave its nod to rename YSR Tadigadapa Municipality as Tadigadapa Municipality, undoing the earlier nomenclature, and approved draft bill to that effect.
To strengthen the capital city project, ministers decided to create special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for implementing large-scale infrastructure works in Amaravati. In another significant step, the government chose to withdraw the land acquisition notification for 343 acres in the capital region, a move expected to pacify farmers and streamline land availability for planned projects.
Urban regularisation also came under focus. The Cabinet approved a penalisation scheme for unauthorised constructions made up to August 31, covering urban local bodies, development authorities, and the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA).
On the industrial front, the Cabinet cleared land allotments under the Lift Policy for small-scale industries and authorised the conversion of agricultural land to non-agricultural use under Panchayat Raj laws to encourage development in rural belts.
Among legislative items, the Cabinet approved amendments to the Andhra Pradesh GST Bill, 2025, and gave the green signal to introduce 13 bills in the ongoing Assembly session. It also finalised three additional dates for electoral roll preparation under municipal and corporation laws, aligning them with the Representation of People’s Act.
Officials said the decisions reflect the government’s twin priorities of urban reforms and capital region revival, while also addressing citizens’ concerns over fees and unauthorised constructions.
